I give a "yes" to what Zen & Rick are saying on August 5th comments below. I too sense in awakened beings : An increase in sensory perception giving us a meta- awareness of what's going on around us, not always with the need to "know" but be in the flow. And to humbly ask for guidance to more perceptive answers, such as the astrological signatures of the day or week or moon cycle, which give us a guiding flavor of the energetics. The Wise Woman does not know(!) in her mind, necessarily.. metacognitions may more likely come these days through the heart and body channels, as much as they have come in times past through the mind. Spirit-truths just come...
I like what Zen says about not just relinquishing responsibility but sitting in the center of it, yet still being humble that we may be especially guided by etheric guides, Beings who are helping, whether in that moment it is an actualized Being with a spirit body or just a wave of higher consciousness being "channelled" (back to that concept) because we are tuned into that channel, does not matter! Indeed. I view "channeling" as a method of communication. It is a natural one, and will enter further use as it becomes better understood. Radio communication from Mars, for example, can take 14 minutes or more to "travel" one-way. Telempathic communication is instantaneous. :)

I think you've begun some necessary discussions here. I've been a contactee and more since childhood, having a dramatic evo-leap as a teenager questing for truth (http://mothershipcafe.com/messianic_complex.htm).
What I have discovered is quite natural and even fits mathematical modeling... ratios fit... imagine 5 senses with 10% of the brain. By extrapolation, 45 more senses are available with the other 90% of the brain. Imagine also, 9 other bodies (http://bethedream.net/processes/multiplane.htm) and the capacity for 5 senses for each... also arriving at 45.
What humans are experiencing is an increase in sensory development, metacognition or even metacommunication if you will. 'Channeling' has become outmoded and, imho, no longer an appropriate term. People tend to relinquish responsibility for what comes through their hands (automatic writing) or out of their mouths (channeling) as being something out of their control.
Instead, their internal filters diffuse and often misinterpret information because they are expecting certain details and divulgence based on their belief systems. This isn't some etheric offering... it is an advance in the science of communication and we need to treat it accordingly. We need to test or vet information and yet be open to understanding we've never had demonstrated yet. We need, imho, to make it more real and grounded in our approach... calling everything into question. Truth emerges that way.
